Internal Affairs Mission Statement

INTERNAL AFFAIRS DIVISION (IAD) acts as the investigative arm of the Sheriff with respect to employee misconduct. 

Internal Affairs Division is responsible for investigating complaints of misconduct of Hinds County Sheriff Department employees that are either administrative in nature, or have potential criminal elements associated with the complaints. Investigators assigned to IAD interview complainants, witnesses and accused employees, collect and preserve evidence, and ensure other investigative approaches are conducted or considered such as photographs, drawings, and record research.

Patrol Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Hinds County Sheriff Department to safeguard the lives and property of the citizens we serve, to reduce the incidence and fear of crime, and to enhance public safety while working with the diverse communities to improve their quality of life. Our mandate is to do so with honor and integrity, while at all times conducting ourselves with the highest ethical standards to maintain public confidence.

Criminal Investigation Mission Statement

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is charged with a purely criminal investigative mission and function. The Division employs Special Investigators who are sworn law enforcement officers possessing statewide jurisdiction and charged with the responsibility of enforcing the laws of the Hinds County. Our administrative support personnel help the Division be responsive to the citizens of Hinds County and all of our criminal justice partners. DCI has a responsibility of investigating crimes that are statewide in nature or importance. DCI Investigators work closely with local, county, state and federal officials to investigate and prosecute crimes involving homicide, arson, financial crimes, illegal gaming, multi-jurisdictional crimes, drug trafficking, computer crimes, homeland security, public integrity and government corruption as well as crimes against children. The Division also performs special investigations operations with other federal agencies like U.S. Marshals and FBI.

Civil Processing Mission Statement

The mission of the  Sheriff’s Office Civil Division is to exercise civil jurisdiction throughout Hinds County with respect to the service of process, enforcement of court orders, legal papers, documents and the execution of judgments.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Civil Division shall strive to perform their duties with the highest level of professional while providing the residents of Oneida County with high quality, cost-effective civil law enforcement.
