MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Hinds County Sheriff’s office is to provide the community with the highest quality of law enforcement services. We strive to improve the public’s perception of community safety by reducing the incidents and fear of crime, while working with the diverse communities throughout Hinds County, to improve their quality of life. The Sheriff’s Office will accomplish this task by working within the Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving model and developing partnerships with the community. Providing this service to the public will be conducted in an efficient and effective manner

Personnel will protect the community and support the tax base by proactively preventing crime and safety detaining those arrested. Personnel will conduct themselves with honor, integrity and the highest ethical standards to maintain public confidence. MISSISSIPPI LAW ENFORCEMENT ACCREDITED AGENCY
For the first time in the history of the HCSO, a State of MS Law Enforcement Accreditation has been achieved through the commission that’s responsible for monitoring law enforcement agencies for compliance of 140 standards during a two year assessment. HCSO joins seven other Sheriff’s offices throughout the State of MS in this effort.
Sheriff Jones made a decision in the summer of 2022 to seek an accreditation for the HCSO and hired an expert in accreditation managing to achieve this goal. After “eight months” of monitoring and assessment, the process was successfully completed, garnering the department a certificate of accreditation for a period of four years.
A special thanks to Bob Morgan with the commission, the accreditation manager and the staff that played a major role in achieving this goal. Achieving this accreditation strengthens confidence for the citizens of Hinds County and those serving with the HCSO. It also recognizes professional excellence in the law enforcement community through best practices, policies and procedures.
